My Sick Boy

The Rose household has been sick for the last couple of weeks. Well, except Joe and Haylie. So I guess half of the Rose household has been sick. Connor and I both started out with a 24 hour flu bug which progressed to a sinus cold (thanks to my brother). So for the last week or so we've both had raw noses and yucky coughs. Well... Connor all of a sudden woke up this morning with a fever and was rubbing his ear. So, our doctor's office is so great, and got us in right away. AND NOW, as if it hasn't been drug on long enough, he's got ear infections in both ears. Poor guy...
:( It's kind of bittersweet though- he never wants to just sit on me and snuggle and today that's all he's done. I finally got him asleep enough to where he stayed asleep when I put him down. Yes, that pink stuff on his shirt is his medicine that he spit out twice before I had to just shove the dropper in his mouth and basically force him to swallow it.

The Merc

Today we planned on going up to Country Mercantile for a day of hay rides, pumpkin picking, pyramid climbing, and animal petting! However... just before we left, Joe got a phone call from work saying that they were leaving for work (aka another 8 days alone). SO, more than ever, we needed to go. We decided that we would leave the hay ride and pumpkin picking for another day, since they take the most time, and just stick to the animals and straw pyramid.
On weekends, they have those huge slides that fill with air, so we're planning on doing all that next weekend when Joe is back. My mom is going to come too, and take some pictures with her "real camera." Her pictures are always so much better than ours. We did manage to get a couple of good pictures, though. The Fam, and as usual... kids aren't looking at the camera. :) I think I was at the very beginning of a blink too... whoops!
Connor and the "Moo"

Connor had just eaten Cheetos... I'm thinking that goat wasn't just giving kisses.
And again... no eye contact. Connor is getting so big... he looks like such a big boy sitting up there by Haylie, who is looking pretty tall herself in this picture. :(
Almost to the top of the straw pyramid!

Haylie's cute lil bum climbing to the top!

Just a few pictures...

I walked in to change a load of laundry this morning and Connor was in the dryer, just talkin' and playing away, all by himself. So of course, as soon as Haylie knew what was going on, she had to have a turn.
And before I knew it... they were both in there.
So, I let them play in there as long as they wanted. These days I hear a lot of screaming and whining and arguing, so this was Heaven. Only laughter, smiles and nice words. I love these moments. Makes me think I could handle another baby. Sort of... ;)

The Great Escape

Our neighbors have a little girl named Cheyenne who is Haylie's age. On most days I can look out our window and see the girls chit chatting away where our fences meet. Today, I caught Haylie telling Cheyenne, "You climb over here to my yard." Apparently Cheyenne was taking too long, because it was only a few seconds before Haylie said, "I will come into your yard, Cheyenne." I was upstairs watching out the window, when she said this, and of course I told her, "Uh, Haylie? I don't think so."

Horseshoe Bend & Grand Canyon

Today was our last full day here. Tomorrow we will be going home, and it's probably time. Haylie and Lucy are almost ready to kill each other, and poor little Connor screams bloody murder every time I walk out of his sight. I can't even go to the bathroom alone!
Anyway, I finally got out today, ALONE. First we went for a walk around the rim of the mesa, which Page sits on, with Rachel and Tami. Awesome! Then later Rachel and I went and got our hair done. IT WAS HEAVENLY. I chopped 7" off and we had a blast! I might have copied Kim a little bit on the style..(maybe a little longer) and couldn't be happier with the outcome! After that, Rachel, Lis and I went with their dad to this place called Horshoe Bend and here are a couple of pics of that. Very beautiful!
These pictures make you realize just how big Earth really is and how magnificent it is.
These pictures are of yesterday. Travelling is so hard with 2 little ones and Connor was beginning to REALLY show me how mad he was about not being on his normal schedule, and I have the bite mark to prove it! SO...we stayed home for a mommy-Connor day, and Tami and Rachel took Haylie with them to the Grand Canyon. The drive was 2 hours, and since it takes me 2 full days to get home, I was not about to sit in the car again. BUT I wanted to put a few pictures on here of the Haylie and the Grand Canyon itself. They had so much fun!

The cow elk they saw just outside of the car.

Lake Powell

Yesterday, we went down to Lake Powell (about 5 miles down the mesa from Page), which is widely known for its size and the beautiful rock formations/mesas outlining it. There were MANY tourists...mostly from Europe. The kids had fun playing, even though the water has already dropped 10 degrees since the warmest part of the summer. Both Haylie and Connor LOVE the water, but Connor wasn't interested in this big lake. I'm sure it has something to do with Joe being gone too...he likes swimming with Daddy. :) The kids and Grampa (or Pom as Connor calls him).
Little Miss Haylie stopping for a fraction of a second to say "cheese!"
Somehow, I caught this awesome picture of Connor... with his little hands on his hips, frown and all!

Connor exploring the dunes...
Right before I took this I said, "Haylie, say 'cheese!'" To which she replied, "N-n-no I c-can't because I'm f-f-freezing. That's why I can't say ch-cheese." Her teeth were chattering so hard; it was the cutest thing. :)

And last but not least, Haylie and her apple; teeth still chattering away. She hardly looks like a baby anymore. She's definitely become a little girl. So bittersweet.....

More to come!
