This one's for Rachel.... :D

My lovely sister-in-law keeps asking for pictures of little Mags, so I thought I'd post a few. When I started looking through my pictures, I realized I am posting pretty much all I have. :/ Dangit! I need to take more pictures! Here she is having her first bath at 6 days! She didn't lose her belly button until day 10, but I couldn't wait to give her a bath so we were careful not to get it wet. We were looking at this picture last night and couldn't believe how tiny she was! She is just 2 weeks old, as of yesterday, and already has chunked out in the face. (See picture #2)
What a sweet sweet baby! I just love her so much and couldn't be happier. I now know that being a mom is my true calling in life. Of course there are things I'd like to do sooner or later, but this little girl makes me feel like all of that can wait. Even when she's screaming! ;)

This is the day we decided to venture out into the world as a family of 5. Maggie was 1 week old, exactly, and I was feeling a little cabin feverish. Kind of weird... I wanted to get out, but I didn't really want anyone talking to me or looking at my baby. Dang hormones. Let's just say it was a little rough. She had been sleeping the entire morning... I'd tried feeding her before we left home, but she was ZONKED! So, we went to town, stopped for some lunch, and by the time lunch was over, I was so sore that I went out and sat in the car, determined to make her eat! Of course while I was feeding her, she decided to have a bit of a blowout. GREAT timing. NOT! We did a little shopping at Target, and then decided to hit up the grocery store (which we saved til last, and needed the most). We got to Fred Meyer... found some new church shoes for Haylie (which took WAY longer than it should have) and by that time I was SO exhausted, we went home. With no groceries. Oh well, right? I just wanted to get home and have a little normality back in our lives. I guess the point is: we survived. :)

I caught this picture one morning while both kids were still sleeping... AT 9:45!!!

I thought it was pretty cute the way both of their heads were tilted upwards and mouths wide open. Apparently both kids take after their Daddy... ;)

She was 7lbs 12oz and 20" long; our biggest baby so far! This picture cracks me up... her little rolls are so cute!
I don't know if babies get swollen just out of the womb, but this little girl looks like a CHUNK in all of the pictures we got right after she was born.... she's actually quite the petite little thing. :)
Haylie is LOVING being a big sister. She just can't get enough!

Such a sweet sweet girl! We are all so in love with her. I wake up in the morning and am SO happy to be awake... it just melts my heart to see her face in the morning. I love that she already knows my voice. Just yesterday she started to focus on my face a little bit. She is such a mellow and easy going baby... she really only cries when she's hungry or has a messy diaper.

This picture was taken just before we left the hospital and I just LOVE how it turned out, even though it's in a carseat. Her face is so perfect. I couldn't be more in love!

She's Here!!!

This is Lucy. She is 1 year old. We found her on craigslist for free! A lady said her son was going through some sort of divorce/problems in his marriage, and she was keeping Lucy for him. But after a while, she just didn't want her anymore. SO... Joe went and looked at her and apparently, immediately fell in love. She is the sweetest dog we've ever met. The owner also said that she was sure her son was pretty "aggressive" with Lucy and after getting her home, we decided he was a lot more than just aggressive. She still cowers when we say the word "no." However, it didn't take her long to warm up! We don't think she was treated very well, pretty sure she wasn't fed properly, and judging by the number of times we had to kick her off our bed the first night, she wasn't even loved. We are so happy to have her! We tend to maybe, sorta kinda, spoil (only a little bit) our animals, so hopefully it doesn't ruin her. ;) Joe is already training her out in the field... she should be ready to do some hunting in the fall. Boy does she LOVE TO RUN! And FAST!!! The coolest thing about her is after looking at her registration, she has amazing bloodlines. Her grandmother is like the 2009 US field champion. Pretty amazing girl!

Sorry about the trick. ;) Still no baby! We're "patiently" waiting. :)

Simple Things

The other day, we finally broke down and got ourselves a little outdoor fire "pit." I guess it's not really a pit... but that's what the kids call it. Joe, being ridiculously excited about it, set it up right away (which was at about 7:PM) so that we could do hot dogs and "smarmeshlows" before the kids went to bed. Needless to say, their bedtime got a little extended that evening... I think it was almost 10 before they hit the sack, after dinner and baths (obviously). We had so much fun sitting out on the deck, doing something new as a family. As you can see, everyone was so excited, that we didn't even put away all of the kids' toys... Joe was SO excited to get home and get it put together, that we completely forgot about the 2 most important parts of sitting around the fire: 1)Wood. :/ And 2) Roasters. SO... we found some wire hangers and took them apart, and we had a pile of scrap wood that he just broke apart. The great thing about kids is they don't care how glamorous it is... they're just happy to be doing something together. :)
