Look-a-like?

Ok, so I thought I had a better picture of Joe that matched Connor better, but these two will have to do. This first picture is of Joe (age 4) getting his first BB gun. And no. Connor will not be getting a BB gun at age 4 no matter what Joe says. This one's a little better... Connor definitely gets his white blonde hair from Joe's side of the family. What a cute couple of boys I have! :)

First "Run" of the Season!

So of course because it was 70 degrees here today, with NO wind, I might add, the kids ran through the sprinklers! I'm so ticked off that I cut her off in this picture! It would have been SUCH a cute framer!
This picture pretty much says it all as far as how Joe looked when he was a little kid. I'll have to post a picture of Joe and Connor together...
K... this cracks me up (No pun intended ;) I told Haylie to turn around for a picture. Instead she moved her little buns over. So I told her that I was going to take a picture of her bottom instead. What does she do? She started shakin' it. Crazy girl.... ;)

Here, Haylie is pretending to swing through the vines. This tree is on the other side of the fence, but its branches hang over into our yard and for some reason, I LOVE it! Of course it'd be better if it was in our yard....

Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer and the kids can't wait to run through the sprinklers again!

And just so all of you know...

(as requested by Sunny :) Miss Haylie DID, in fact, get her McIndonald's. A caramel sundae, to be exact. Aren't I such a good mom?! ;) It's a good thing too, because we sat at Joe's office for an hour, waiting for him to get there. Kept 'em pretty entertained!

Insert Foot In Mouth...

The other day, I had a doctor's appointment and so afterwards, we went over to Joe's office to say hello. On the way, we passed numerous fast food restaurants, including, OF COURSE, McDonald's. My kids LOVE to play at McDonald's! Only this time, Haylie had her heart set on food. Well... being as it was 3:30 in the afternoon, I said no. Here's how the conversation played out:

Haylie: MOM! Can we stop at McIndonald's (yes, McIndonald's is how we say it around here)? I'm still so so hungry!
Me: No Haylie. It's not time to eat. We already had lunch and it's going to be dinner time in a little while.
Haylie: (whining) But Mom! I'm SO hungry! Can't we just stop and get something to eat. I didn't eat enough lunch.
Me: I'm sorry Haylie. You should have eaten more lunch then if you're still hungry. We're not stopping.
Haylie: (whining/crying) I really really want to something to eat!
Me: Fine. How are you going to pay for it though?
Haylie: Well you can just pay for it. You have money.
Me: But I'm not hungry Haylie. If you want something, then you'll have to pay for it.
Haylie: But Mom. I was just saving my money because I wanted to buy you something so so special like flowers or a dress or butterflies.
Me: ..........

Not sure which lesson was learned here....

3!!!

This has been a long time comin' but thanks to my kids and the 56 degree weather outside ;), I finally found the motivation to get it done!

It's true. He turned 3. Why does time move so quickly, just when you want it to slow down? I can remember being so excited when Haylie was a baby... always ready for her next stage in life. Sitting up, crawling, talking, walking... And now she is going to be starting kindergarten in a few months. NOT COOL!! Then when Connor came, I got smart! I'd leave him laying on the floor as long as I could, even though he was trying to pull himself up to a sitting position, because I KNEW that if I encouraged him to sit up, or crawl, or walk, I'd lose my baby. And look! He's still 3! My little plan failed. :(

This is the birthday party we had at my Grandma's house in Oregon. Connor picked out the sprinkle cake mix and cream cheese frosting. Mmmm.... :)
There are 3 candles there... but for some reason, they wouldn't stay lit, so we turned the cupcake sideways for the picture. ;)

You little devil, you.... That is definitely an "I'm up to NO good!" face.

On his real birthday, we met my mom and Larry at the pizza place in Prosser. Connor got the Chipmunks CD and a new bike from Joe and I. I think he likes the bike... But again, it just makes him look like a little kid instead of my baby...

Gramma Tami and Grandpa Mark sent Connor his very own golf club... which he loves! Haylie was very excited to "help" open his gifts. ;)

And Gramma Jackie and Grandpa Larry got him some new Hot Wheels. Just what we need!

I wasn't feeling very "on top of it" this year... could be the pregnancy... who knows?! But poor Connor's birthday was planned at the very last minute and so his cake was store bought. Now that I am looking at the pictures and his expressions, I realize that he will never know the difference. We found this pie at the grocery store by our house called Turtle Cheesecake and it was SO good!

All in all, a success! We only wish that all of our family that live far way, could have been here to celebrate with us! SOON though!! Hopefully they will come when little baby Rose gets here!! :)

Our BIG, Exciting Spring Break Trip!!!

This past Friday, the 31st, Joe had an overnight surveying job in Yakima. SO- the kids and I "packed up" and drove over to stay the night!! I had contemplated not going, since it was just one night, and lately I only sleep "ok" when Joe's not in the bed (sorry Honey). But he said there was a pool and I figured that I better get out and do SOMETHING, (no matter how small) especially with all of us, before this baby gets here, or I might go crazy! And of course, when I told Haylie and Connor we were going and that there was a pool, there was no going back! Connor is definitely my son! He would much rather be in the hot tub than in the pool. I'm sure being in the 10th percentile for his weight and height might have a little to do with that...
My handsome hubby. :) Hopefully someday before I die, I'll catch a picture of him where he is showing his teeth... Connor riding "the turtle."

Cheesey!

We had such a fun time. I had forgotten how much fun it can be to stay in a hotel! My mom told me not to discount the simple pleasures in life, and she is definitely right. I don't know what it is about sleeping in a room that's not your own... being able to do pretty much whatever you want?? Could be. I especially liked the part where it only took us an hour to drive back home!

I copied this from my friend Dedre's blog... I've read it before, or something similar to it, and I just felt that I needed to share it with everyone. SUCH an important part of raising a healthy family, I think. I am so glad to know these things before my kids get caught up in sports and after school activities... hopefully Joe and I can make it a habit for life!
