Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

For an early anniversary gift, I surprised Joe with tickets to go see “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” at Sundance Resort in Utah. Our anniversary isn’t until September 16th but with school starting and the play not running that long, I figured we better go before tickets were sold out. The resort is only about a 2.5 hour drive from our house which is SO nice (especially since we didn’t take our kids with us)!

Joe would like to make it clear that he thinks this is the ONLY musical where it’s OK for men to dance and sing (therefore it’s his favorite musical). I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of the actual play, so of course I didn’t…

My hot date.

This is Chad. He talks to Charles all the time! (As in Charles Robert Redford.) Lucky son-of-a-gun. He told a story before the play started that went like this: Before Sundance started putting on this play, Robert Redford tried to buy the rights for the play but kept getting shut down. Everyone told him no. So finally he decided to put on a play called “Five Brides for Five Brothers.” The end. Apparently, Robert called Chad the Friday before the first play was performed and said, “You need to tell this story before every play.”

I thought these pictures were funny… it was intermission and we got a little giddy. We kept trying to take a self portrait, which were all failed attempts (and which I will NOT be putting on the internet) and these are the final two pictures we took. We were both laughing so hard and I thought it was funny that we both took the same exact picture of each other.

It’s a good thing I married a mountain man who NEVER gets cold because I was FREEZING! Joe let me wear his jacket as well as my own, plus I was coverrd up with a blanket. And he told me it wouldn’t get cold… never listen to a mountain man. ;)

Thank you to my awesome sister-in-law, Rachel and brother-in-law, Steve and to Joe’s parents for watching our kids so that Joe and I could get away for our anniversary. We had such a great time and definitely needed to get away!

Did you miss me? Part 2

A couple weekends after we got back from Washington, we headed down to Heber City, Utah for Joe’s mom’s side of the family’s reunion. It was only 2 nights but we stayed in a great big house with a pool and hot tub, basketball court, trampoline and outdoor volleyball court. So fun! Unfortunately, like a huge DORK, I left the camera at home so we didn’t get any pictures. Blast!

Two weekends after that, we loaded up and went up to Spirit Lake for an overnight camping trip. We would have stayed two nights, except Joe had to go BACK to Texas for more training. I did remember the camera that time, so we got some fun pictures of our camp sight, the guys fishing and our hike. The only thing we could have done without was Connor shooting off the bear spray INSIDE the camper. It was quite the ordeal, one I’m sure we will never forget, but no one was hurt so no big deal. ;)

**Picture Overload Ahead**

WHOA! It’s been quite the summer! I feel like I haven’t stopped going since school got out! But after some “subtle” hints from my momma (who came to visit us for my “baby’s” 7th birthday), I decided it was time to update this thing. I mean, it’s been 2 months and 11 days. High time!

SO… a couple weeks after Hay got out of school, we loaded up and headed to Washington for 2 whole weeks of vacation with my side of the fam. We had TONS of fun! Every time I head back home, my heart strings are pulled just a little bit harder as we start passing green fields, orchards and vineyards. Unfortunately, the hubs wasn’t able to come with us since he had training for work in Texas. We missed him a TON especially when Maggie was throwing one of her hundreds of tantrums!! We stayed at my dad’s house for a few days, spent a week at my mom’s and then stayed a few more nights at my dad’s again before heading home.

Some of my most vivid memories are of my cousins, siblings and I out in the asparagus field behind our house, playing on the wheel lines. We used to have so much fun out there and I couldn’t help but giggle as I watched my kids out in that bean field.

One of the main reasons I went home was for my 10 year class reunion! I had so much fun… well worth the 15 hour drive with my 3 brats angels! ;)

The first thing we did when we got to Gramma’s house was jump in the pool! I don’t think the kids got out until the week was up!

Good thing Uncle Cody and Auntie Kelli were there to keep us all entertained!

We are so grateful for such amazing family to feed us and house us for 2 weeks. I feel so blessed to be able to go home to such a beautiful place!
